“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” Hebrews 10:23

Our Story

The first service of Maltby Christian Assembly was held in 1983 in the Maltby Community Club under the leadership of Pastor Jim Brown. This small group of Christ-followers continued to meet and moved to Maltby Elementary School in 1986.

A local property owner offered the church a 5 acre parcel of land and on May 6, 1986, the church signed the papers to purchase this property next door to Maltby Elementary School and a "mobile" chapel was installed.

After six years of faithful service Pastor Jim & Mary Brown resigned and Pastor David & Sherry Brakke were excited to begin ministry as lead pastors, as they had felt called to Maltby many years prior. Their first service at the church was October 8, 1989.

The 1990's were an amazing time of growth and change as we outgrew the mobile chapel and were busy with architectural planning, civil engineering, county paperwork, and eventually construction of the first "permanent" building. The family of Christ was amazingly involved throughout the building process and gave of themselves throughout and made it possible with their prayers, finances and willingness to help. The first service in the new building was held on Sunday December 6, 1992. God continued to bless the ministries of Maltby Christian Assembly and steady growth continued both spiritually and numerically. During this time the church increased in staffing, service time options and facilities.

After much prayer and research 11.2 acres on Paradise Lake Road was purchased and the beautiful property dedicated on June 13, 1999. Construction began on a 24,000 square foot facility in 2002 and we celebrated with grand opening services in November of 2003. It was an exciting day!

2006 to 2009 were years of transition and change as we welcomed new staff and re-focused our mission from “Building Bridges to People” to “Building Bridges to all generations, connecting People to Christ and to one another.” God was leading us to emphasize that Maltby Christian Assembly is a cross-generational church.

In 2008 the church celebrated it's 25th Anniversary and we were blessed as we remembered God’s faithfulness in the past, celebrated His greatness for today, and recognized His great plans for the future.

This decade brought great opportunity as the church launched it's website, opened One Cup Coffee stand and engaged in our community through bridge events such as: Trunk or Treat, Hot Rods & Hogs Car Show, July Fireworks, and Christmas outreaches.

From 2010 on the church continues to focus on connecting all generations to Christ through loving, growing and serving. This has included an emphasis on Multiply, our effort to plant new churches and become a multi-site church. In 2012 we were the primary partners in launching Blue Bridge Church in the Tri-Cities, Washington. In 2013 Twin Rivers Prison Ministry was brought into our church family. In 2014 we launched our Monroe campus and have seen God do amazing things in and through the Monroe community. We began The Preschool at Maltby which has thrived and have since opened another preschool at the Monroe campus and added Kindergarten classes. Most recently in 2019 we sent our former Monroe Campus Pastor and his wife to Billings, Montana where they have launched Dinner Church Billings.

After 33 years of faithful service, Pastors David and Sherry Brakke felt God moving them into a new chapter of ministry. They stepped down in October 2022 passing the baton to Pastors Jeremiah and Marjorie Campbell who began as lead pastors in November of the same year.

We are thankful for God’s continuing grace and favor for the church and know that He has incredible plans for the future.
